Greg Anderson Contributor – June 2025
There’s something unmistakable that happens when three musical forces collide at just the right moment — a spark, a shared pulse, the kind of chemistry you can’t force, only find. That’s exactly what’s happening with The All’s Eye, the new trio featuring guitarist-composer Ari Joshua, drummer Ben Atkind, and keyboardist Kris Yunker.
Together, they’ve tapped into a pocket so deep and textured, it feels like a transmission from a vinyl-drenched parallel universe. Their upcoming Pacific Northwest tour, launching June 26, coincides with the release of their latest studio single, “Carriage House” — a rich, analog-soaked nod to the golden age of organ-funk with just enough forward motion to pull the genre into 2025.
Recorded at the legendary Carriage House Studios in Connecticut, the track is a showcase in vintage soul meets cinematic jam. Ari’s guitar work — both elastic and precise — wraps around Yunker’s Hammond organ, clavinet, and piano textures, while Atkind’s drumming adds both fire and finesse. There’s even a hint of what’s to come in the form of a thick vocal harmony arrangement, teasing a full vocal version still in the oven. Think Soulive meets Khruangbin, with the fire of Greyboy Allstars and the freedom of Medeski Martin & Wood.
“This band has that chemistry you can’t manufacture,” says Ari Joshua. “Everyone is so comfortable contributing to the overall sound from so many angles. Somehow, almost everything we’ve tried has ended up really cooking.”
Indeed, each member brings a heavy résumé. Ari Joshua’s guitar tone and compositional instincts were forged through years of jazz education and rock experimentation. Kris Yunker’s deep command of groove has lit up stages with Alan Evans Trio, Bearly Dead, and countless others across the East Coast jam and funk scenes. Ben Atkind — known to many from his time drumming with Houseplant, ElephantProof, and formerly Goose — brings a thunderous yet nuanced approach that locks the trio into something far greater than the sum of its parts.
The result? The All’s Eye is not a side project or experiment. It’s a living, breathing ensemble with a sound that channels improvisation, soul, and spontaneity — a fresh entry into the modern jam band canon that honors its roots without getting stuck in them.
“Carriage House,” mixed by Jakael Tristram and mastered by Joe Lambert, captures this ethos front to back: spacious, bold, polished, but never overworked.
The PNW tour promises to carry that same magic to the stage. With stops from Seattle to Portland, including a slot at the Harstine Hoopla Festival, fans can expect deep jams, tight grooves, and moments of pure improvisational lift-off. This is music made for now, but informed by decades of collective experience, sweat, and soul.

Alongside “Carriage House,” the trio’s label Music Factory Records is building a formidable catalog of genre-defying work. Recent releases like “Blurry Face” and “Reversible Submersible” (featuring John Medeski and Billy Martin) are carving out new spaces in the soul-jazz-rock universe, positioning the label — and Ari Joshua’s vision — at the forefront of independent music exploration.
The All’s Eye isn’t just another band on tour. They’re a signal flare from the underground — a new voice rising through the noise with groove, guts, and a clear creative mission.
